ABOUT

“Easily the least popular Magic: the Gathering themed puppet show starring a red panda and a rabbit.”

- Everyone, Apparently

THE BUNWILLOWS

A puppet and stop motion show about Magic: the Gathering that aims to bring together the irreverence of The Muppets, the imagination of Calvin and Hobbes, and the adventure of Indiana Jones in a fun for all ages world of Magic.

Originally it was going to be called The BurnWillows named after the card The Grove of the Burnwillows.

When I was in first grade we had a puppeteer from Sesame Street or The Muppets come out and teach us how to build sock puppets.

The show is currently entirely produced by one person who also rides a bicycle taxi. Yes at the same time?

What d’y’all think of this serene mountainous lake stock Squarespace imaaage?

I’m a guy who never felt overly motivated by anything, just going through the motions. Always wanting to do more, and felt capable of so much more, but was stymied by shyness and fear of failure, so instead of chasing dreams I worked poorly on safe directions. That is until I got back into Magic: the Gathering back in 2015 or so while doing research on creating my own game, a version of Dragon Poker from the Myth series of my childhood. But game design was not to be, for I quickly succumbed to Magic’s alluring gameplay and childhood nostalgia. And with all the content creation going on in the online community, I wanted to participate.

But I can never do the minimum, or even a reasonable amount. I want to do it all. And by I, I mean me. I want to do it all and I want it all to be done by me. And it had better be hard too. No sense in doing anything easy. So with no knowledge or history in any kind of film work, story production, or puppetry, I decided that I would create a Magic themed Puppet based show.

Now I have spent thousands of hours making this show a reality. It is the hardest thing I have ever done, with the longest shot at success, but I’ve finally learned that sometimes you have to dare to hold your future in your hand.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Don’t worry, it’s never been a problem. Sound like you. Smell like me and look like me too. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. My interjections are what’s going to separate this sentence from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do. If you do hear a different voice while typing your words into a webpage editor, that’s a good sign you have text-to-speech on, and that you will always always always have more work to do. Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. Yes. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Stone Age websites lacked this feature, evolution having not yet been invented. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. How to Sound Sleazy, Chapter 6. Later will take care of itself. How to Sound Sleazy, Chapter 7. It always does. When you’re not wrong you’re not wrong.
